Movers for Moms® has come to a close! Yes, there are a few donations still trickling in that we are happy to accept, but it officially ended on March 13, 2017 – the day before Mother’s Day! Although our aim was to have EVERYTHING to WEAVE by Mother’s Day, we know that WEAVE can definitely still use the donations.
Since the beginning of April, our representatives have been spending their Saturdays at drop off locations for Movers for Moms®. Through the sun and through the rain, they have kept a positive and upbeat attitude, and Truckie wore a smile as well! So many
people came out to show their support for Mothers in need. 103.9 The Fish continuously promoted both Movers for Moms® and WEAVE, Inc. and offered free Family Fish Fest tickets as an incentive for donating.
Over five weeks, we met mothers who had used WEAVE in the past, who had a family member who had used WEAVE, and people who simply felt a connection to WEAVE, and wanted to do whatever they could to help. Some came with a few items, some came with a trunk full. Regardless of the quantity we were so grateful for each and every item.
Don’t worry, we will soon get to the astonishing amount that we collected.
For those of you who do not know, Movers for Moms® is a nationwide program. Each franchise chooses a shelter who could use our help. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® loves giving back to the community, especially when it is a worthy nonprofit that makes such a impact on our area.
Last year during Movers for Moms®, we collected over 11,000 donations. Coming into this year, we were aiming for 15,000. We came in just 68 items shy of our goal. We collected a grand total of 14,932 items in roughly 6 weeks! Not bad!
So no, we did not hit our goal – but Movers in the Sacramento area are definitely supporting moms. And ultimately, it wasn’t about us hitting goal, it was about Giving Back to the Community we live in! That is why giving back to the community is one of our Core Values! WEAVE is such a deserving organization, and we are thrilled to be giving back.
Not for a moment do we believe that we did this ourselves. We could not have done this without the support of 103.9 The Fish, without our 25 partnering businesses, or without the great people in our community, and the surrounding communities.
We want to say THANK YOU to all of the businesses that partnered with Movers for Moms® and donated to WEAVE.
